Inclined Tube Sedimentation Tank Introduction

The inclined tube sedimentation tank is a high-efficiency solid-liquid separation equipment. It mainly consists of tank body, inclined tube assembly, water inlet device, water outlet device and sludge discharge system. Adopting honeycomb or corrugated inclined tubes with an inclination angle of 60° as the sedimentation medium, it features compact structure and small footprint. Widely used for separating suspended particles in water treatment, it effectively removes sediment, suspended solids, colloids and other impurities in water, laying a foundation for subsequent advanced treatment. It is one of the most commonly used sedimentation equipment in the water treatment industry.

Working Principle of Inclined Tube Sedimentation Tank

Based on the shallow layer sedimentation theory, raw water is evenly distributed through the water inlet device and flows slowly through the inclined tube assembly. Suspended particles settle down by gravity; the inclined structure shortens the settling distance and accelerates sedimentation speed, while preventing settled particles from re-floating. Sludge slides down along the inner wall of inclined tubes to the sludge hopper at the tank bottom and is discharged by the sludge discharge system. Clarified water rises along the inclined tubes and is collected and discharged via the water outlet device, realizing efficient solid-liquid separation with much higher efficiency than traditional horizontal sedimentation tanks.

The process flow is concise and efficient with five steps: 1. Water inlet and distribution: Raw water enters the tank through pipelines and is evenly distributed below the inclined tube assembly by the water distribution device. 2. Inclined tube sedimentation: Raw water rises slowly along the inclined tubes, and suspended particles settle onto the inner wall under gravity. 3. Sludge discharge: Settled sludge slides down to the bottom sludge hopper and is discharged regularly through the sludge valve. 4. Clean water collection: Clarified water rises to the outlet area along the inclined tubes and is gathered by the water outlet device. 5. Water delivery: The collected clean water is conveyed to subsequent processing units such as filtration and disinfection, completing the whole sedimentation process.
