Working Principle of Quartz Sand Filter
It adopts physical interception and filtration technology, taking advantage of the porous structure and graded particle size of quartz sand filter media. Raw water flows downwards into the filter tank; suspended particles and sediment are intercepted layer by layer by quartz sand with different particle sizes. Large impurities are blocked by the upper coarse quartz sand, while fine particles are filtered by the lower fine quartz sand. Solid-liquid separation is realized through adsorption and interception of filter media. When the filter material is saturated and the filtration efficiency decreases, the backwashing system is started. Water flows upwards to flush the filter layer, washing out intercepted impurities and restoring the filtration capacity for cyclic operation.

The process flow is concise and efficient, divided into five steps: 1. Water inlet and distribution: Raw water enters the tank through pipelines and is evenly distributed above the filter layer by the water distribution device. 2. Layered filtration: Raw water flows down through the quartz sand layer, with impurities intercepted layer by layer to produce purified water. 3. Water output and transmission: Purified water is collected by the bottom water collection device and delivered to subsequent treatment units or water terminals. 4. Backwashing and regeneration: After the filter material is saturated, backwash water flushes the filter layer from bottom to top, discharging impurities with wastewater. 5. Cyclic operation: After backwashing, the equipment returns to the filtration state to realize continuous and stable water purification and supply.
