Equipment IntroductionBasket filters are pre-filters used in pipelines to intercept solid debris such as silt, rust, and welding slag from inside the fluid, protecting water pumps, membrane elements, heat exchangers, and precision instruments. They serve as the first line of defense in the entire water treatment system and can be customized to meet non-standard requirements for diameter and filtration accuracy.
Applicable Water SourceTap water, river water, groundwater, mine water, rainwater, seawater, hard water, highly alkaline water, and highly turbid water.
Application ScenariosFactory production water, circulating cooling water, sewage treatment influent pretreatment, well water, groundwater purification, etc.
I. Introduction to Basket Filters
The DIEN Water Treatment Basket Filter is a pre-filter for pipelines, consisting of a cylinder, flange end caps, a handle-type stainless steel filter basket, and sealing components. The filter basket uses a perforated plate composite filter screen structure, offering a large dirt-holding capacity. It can be made of carbon steel or 304/316 stainless steel, adaptable to different pressures and media conditions. It primarily intercepts solid impurities such as silt, rust, and welding slag from within the fluid, protecting water pumps, membrane elements, heat exchangers, and precision instruments. It serves as the first line of defense in the entire water treatment system and supports custom-made filters with different diameters and filtration accuracies.
II. Working Principle of Basket Filters
The basket filter achieves impurity retention through physical sieving. Fluid containing impurities enters the cylinder through the inlet, passing through the filter basket. Solid particles larger than the filter screen pore size are trapped inside the basket, while clean media flows out from the outlet. As impurities accumulate, the pressure difference between the inlet and outlet gradually increases. Depressurization and opening the cover allow the filter basket to be removed for rinsing. After cleaning, it is reinstalled, and the equipment can be put back into operation. The entire process requires no electrical control components; it is purely physical filtration.
III. Advantages of Basket Filters
DIEN Water Treatment's basket filters offer a large filtration area and low flow resistance, preventing excessive pressure drop in pipelines. The filter basket can be repeatedly washed and reused, eliminating the need for frequent filter element replacements and reducing maintenance costs. Disassembly and assembly are simple; the basket can be lifted directly from the cover without disassembling the pipeline. The housing has good pressure resistance and strong sealing, making it suitable for water, oil, and common chemical media. Flexible specifications allow for compatibility with everything from small-diameter pipelines to high-flow circulating water systems, reducing the risk of wear and clogging in downstream equipment.
IV. Application Areas of Basket Filters
In the water treatment industry, basket filters are used for circulating water, reclaimed water, and pre-treatment of reverse osmosis equipment to remove large particulate impurities from well water and sewage; in the chemical and petroleum industries, they are used for process fluid pipeline filtration; in the power and metallurgical industries, they are used for cooling water pipeline protection; they are also widely used in food and beverage, municipal water supply, and HVAC circulating water systems. DIEN Water Treatment can match suitable specifications and models to customers based on site conditions.
V. Basket Filter Process Flow

Basket Filter Process Flow Diagram
1. The medium containing impurities flows into the basket filter body through the pipeline;
2. The fluid passes through the filter basket, solid impurities are trapped inside the basket, and clean water is output;
3. The equipment runs continuously, and the pressure difference between the inlet and outlet is observed;
4. When the pressure difference increases, the machine is stopped to release pressure, the end cover is opened, and the filter basket is removed;
5. The filter basket is flushed and cleaned of debris, and the filter screen is checked for damage;
6. The filter basket is reset, the end cover is sealed and locked, and the system restarts to begin circulating filtration.
