Troubleshooting for reduced water output and low water pressure in water softening equipment

  Pre-filter 70% clogged, water flow halved

  Many users neglect regular cleaning of their pre-filters, causing impurities to accumulate on the filter surface and narrowing the water passages. Reduced water flow naturally leads to a decrease in the amount of water output from the softening equipment.

  One user at a processing plant in Xi'an had their pre-filter unchanged for a full eight months. Upon inspection, it was found that the filter was 70% clogged, and the water flow had dropped by half. After using a high-pressure water gun to thoroughly clean the filter and remove the accumulated debris from the pipes, the equipment immediately returned to its standard output of 3 tons of water per hour.

  Valve body never maintained, water pressure dropped by 0.2MPa

  If the valve body of a water softening equipment is left unmaintained for a long time, scale will build up on the valve core, and the sealing ring will lose its elasticity and deform. These changes directly narrow the water passage, causing a significant drop in water pressure.

  A guesthouse in the mountains had been using a water softening system for three years without any maintenance on the valve body. When we arrived to test it, we found that the measured water pressure was 0.2MPa lower than the standard for a new machine. After disassembling the valve body, we found that the valve core was covered with a thick layer of scale, and the sealing ring was completely deformed and had lost its function. After replacing the entire set of seals and polishing and cleaning the valve core, the equipment's operating condition was restored to its original factory condition.

  Resin layer clogged, water flow as slow as dripping oil

  When water softening resin is used for a long time without backwashing, the particles stick together and clump together, forming dense clumps. The compacted resin layer has very small gaps, significantly increasing water resistance. The most noticeable effect is slower water flow and weak water pressure.   Last year, we connected our equipment with a bathhouse, which hadn't undergone manual backwashing for a full 10 months. On-site testing revealed that the resin layer clogged by over 60%, and the overall water flow rate had decreased by 45%. Instead of replacing any consumables, we used deep layered backwashing technology to gradually break up the clogged resin and remove the internal buildup of dirt. This completely restored the equipment's water flow efficiency to normal.

  Raw water inlet pressure consistently below 0.15 MPa

  Many water pressure malfunctions are actually unrelated to the water softening equipment itself; the key issue lies in the inlet pressure not meeting standard requirements. The widely accepted standard inlet pressure in the industry needs to be maintained within the range of 0.2 to 0.4 MPa. If it remains below 0.15 MPa for an extended period, even brand-new equipment will produce weak and powerless output water.

  Inappropriate controller settings, skipped backwashing cycles

  Situations such as excessively long backwashing cycles, excessively short backwashing times, or even skipping the backwashing process altogether, if the controller parameters of the water softening equipment are incorrectly set, impurities will continuously accumulate within the system. Over time, the internal resistance of the entire system will gradually increase, leading to a decreasing output water flow.

  Excessive pipe bends increase water loss.

  The connecting pipe, which runs from the raw water inlet to the water softening equipment, is prone to head loss if its design is flawed. Excessive bends or overly narrow pipe diameters can lead to significant head loss. While seemingly insignificant, this loss can accumulate and noticeably reduce the pressure at the outlet.

  During a maintenance inspection of a villa project, we discovered that the entire piping system used eight 90-degree bends, and the inlet pipe diameter was only DN15. far below the required DN25 standard. After replacing the pipe with a thicker one and reducing the number of unnecessary bends, the flow rate and pressure of the water from the equipment returned to normal.
