The reason is simple: Northwest water not only has high levels of calcium and magnesium ions, but also excessive iron and manganese in many areas, along with higher concentrations of sulfate and chloride ions. They contacted the original manufacturer, who claimed the water was too hard, the equipment was fine, and suggested adding acid pretreatment. Adding acid?
