I. Project Overview
The water supply system upgrade and optimization project at a water plant in Hubei Province involves the plant, which relies on local reservoir water as its core raw water source. It bears the important responsibility of ensuring water supply for local residents and industrial use, and is a core infrastructure for the safe utilization of local water resources and the guarantee of water quality for residents. The original water treatment process was ill-suited to the fluctuating water quality of the reservoir's raw water, leading to problems such as sediment and suspended solids accumulation, and scaling in pipes and equipment. Furthermore, insufficient water disinfection capacity posed potential safety hazards. To completely address these water quality shortcomings and stabilize the water supply in both quantity and quality, the water plant initiated a water purification equipment upgrade project. By integrating multiple types of filtration equipment and professional disinfection equipment, a comprehensive and efficient water purification system was constructed, significantly improving the stability of the water supply and the rate of water quality compliance. Currently, the entire water treatment system has been installed and commissioned, and is in regular operation, enabling the water plant to provide stable, compliant, and continuous water supply.

II. Raw Water Quality Issues and Project Background
The project's raw water is taken from a local reservoir. While the reservoir's overall water quality is relatively good, factors such as seasonal rainfall, water flow, and surrounding environmental disturbances cause various water quality problems year-round, restricting the water plant's supply quality. The core water quality issues fall into two main categories: first, physical contamination, with the raw water containing large amounts of sediment, fine particulate matter, and suspended impurities. Water quality fluctuations are particularly pronounced during the flood season, with increased turbidity and a significant increase in impurity content; second, scaling and microbial contamination, where long-term accumulation of minerals and impurities easily forms scale on the inner walls of pipes and water treatment equipment, causing pipe blockages, reduced equipment efficiency, and shortened equipment lifespan. Furthermore, various bacteria and microorganisms exist in natural water bodies, and without professional disinfection, the water cannot meet the standards for domestic and industrial water use.
The existing water purification process has a single filtration stage and weak disinfection capabilities, failing to effectively intercept fine suspended solids and sediment, and unable to achieve comprehensive water disinfection. Long-term operation not only results in unstable water quality but also easily leads to problems such as turbid water, equipment scaling and clogging, and fluctuating water supply, making it difficult to meet the needs of a stable and reliable water supply. To meet drinking water safety standards and ensure stable water supply in the region, it is urgent to upgrade and improve the water treatment process and build a refined, integrated water purification and disinfection system.
III. Customer Needs and Treatment Objectives
Based on the current raw water quality of the water plant, daily water supply conditions, and regional water standards, the customer identified core treatment needs, focusing on three core dimensions: impurity filtration, water purification, and water disinfection, to specifically address the existing pain points in the water supply.
Customer's Core Needs: Thoroughly filter silt, solid impurities, colloids, and various suspended solids from raw water, resolving scaling and clogging issues in equipment and pipes; comprehensively disinfect and sterilize the water to remove harmful microorganisms and eliminate potential water quality safety hazards; optimize the water treatment process to ensure long-term stable equipment operation, stable output water volume, and reduced equipment maintenance costs.
Project Treatment Objectives: Construct a multi-stage refined filtration system to efficiently intercept impurities in raw water, significantly reduce water turbidity, and completely solve the problem of scale buildup; achieve harmless treatment of the water through professional disinfection processes, ensuring that water quality microbiological indicators fully meet standards; the entire system is adaptable to continuous water supply conditions in water plants, with stable output water volume, a high degree of automation, and long-term stable water supply quality, with all output water indicators meeting relevant national water supply standards.

IV. Solution
Addressing the comprehensive water quality issues of this reservoir's raw water, including high levels of sediment, suspended solids, easy scaling, and the need for disinfection, our company customized a multi-stage gradient filtration + professional disinfection integrated water treatment solution based on the raw water characteristics, water supply scale, and site conditions. This solution incorporates four core pieces of equipment: a self-cleaning filter, a disc filter, a high-flow-rate filter, and a sodium hypochlorite generator, forming a complete treatment process of "step-by-step filtration, fine purification, intelligent disinfection, and stable water supply," balancing treatment effectiveness and operational efficiency.
1. Self-cleaning Filter: As a core pre-treatment device, it primarily intercepts large particles of sediment and coarse solid impurities in the raw water. The equipment features a fully automatic self-cleaning function, capable of cleaning the filter screen and discharging impurities without shutting down the plant, effectively preventing equipment blockage caused by impurity accumulation, ensuring stable feed water for subsequent processes, eliminating the need for frequent manual maintenance, and meeting the water plant's 24-hour continuous water supply requirements.
2. Disc Filter: Following the pretreatment process, this filter achieves fine filtration, deeply intercepting fine suspended solids, colloidal particles, and other small impurities in the raw water, further reducing turbidity and purifying the water layer by layer. It also effectively reduces the content of scale-forming substances in the water, alleviating scaling problems in pipes and equipment at the source and improving water cleanliness.
3. High-Flow Filter: As a core water purification device, this filter boasts advantages such as high flow rate, high treatment efficiency, and strong dirt-holding capacity. It can adapt to the large-scale water supply needs of water plants, providing final purification for fine impurities that were not completely filtered in the previous stages, stabilizing the quality and quantity of the output water, ensuring the long-term and stable operation of the entire filtration system, and avoiding problems such as water quality fluctuations and insufficient output.
4. Sodium Hypochlorite Generator: As the core equipment for point-of-use disinfection, it automatically prepares sodium hypochlorite disinfectant solution to comprehensively disinfect and sterilize the filtered clean water. It effectively kills bacteria, E. coli, and various harmful microorganisms in the water, achieving harmless water treatment, eliminating the risk of excessive microbial levels, ensuring the safety of the water supply, and meeting domestic water hygiene standards.
The entire equipment system features a clear process hierarchy and well-defined division of labor. It operates fully automatically, requiring minimal manual intervention, and combines high efficiency and stability. It perfectly meets the water quality treatment needs of the reservoir's raw water while effectively reducing subsequent operation and maintenance costs.
V. Treatment Results
This water plant purification upgrade project has successfully completed the entire process of equipment installation, commissioning, and trial operation. Currently, the entire water treatment system is officially in continuous, routine operation. The overall treatment effect of the project has met the expected standards, and all core indicators show excellent performance.
In terms of impurity purification, the multi-stage filtration system works synergistically to thoroughly remove impurities such as silt, suspended solids, and particulate matter from the raw water, significantly reducing turbidity and resulting in clear, transparent effluent. This fundamentally solves the problem of excessive impurities and turbidity in the raw water, while effectively inhibiting scale buildup on pipe and equipment walls, preventing blockages and significantly improving equipment efficiency.
Regarding water disinfection, the sodium hypochlorite generator operates stably with precise and controllable disinfection dosage, comprehensively eliminating harmful microorganisms in the water. The effluent microbial indicators fully comply with national standards, completely eliminating potential water safety hazards.
In terms of water supply stability, the high-flow-rate filtration equipment, combined with a fully automatic operating system, perfectly adapts to the continuous water supply conditions of the water plant. The equipment operates smoothly without jamming, blockages, or downtime, ensuring a stable and sufficient water output to continuously meet the daily water supply needs of the region. Testing shows that all water quality indicators at the water plant's effluent meet standards, resulting in a comprehensive upgrade in water supply quality.
