Raw Water Issue:The raw water is well water. During the rainy season, rainwater seeps in and carries surface mud, sand, and colloidal suspended matter into the groundwater, causing the water to become turbid and the impurity content to soar. This can easily cause blockages in production pipelines and operating nozzles, requiring frequent shutdowns for manual cleaning, which seriously affects the production schedule.

Case Details

  I. Project Overview

  This water treatment project is located at a foam cardboard box manufacturing company in Qujing, Yunnan Province. The factory's core business includes foam packaging and corrugated cardboard box processing and production. Daily production processes such as equipment cooling, mold cleaning, and adhesive preparation require high-quality water. The factory draws its production water from groundwater, with an average daily consumption of 100 tons. Due to local geological conditions and rainwater infiltration during the rainy season, the raw water quality fluctuates significantly, exhibiting problems such as high turbidity and excessive hardness, making it unsuitable for direct use in production and prone to causing equipment blockage, pipe scaling, and increased product defect rates. To ensure stable production line operation and improve product quality, the company has installed a 100T/D integrated water treatment system. The equipment has been installed, commissioned, and accepted, and is now in regular operation.

  II. Raw Water Quality Issues and Project Background

  According to feedback from the factory's production operations, two major water quality problems existed before the project was implemented. On the one hand, rainwater infiltration during the rainy season carries surface sediment and colloidal suspended matter into groundwater, causing water turbidity and a surge in impurities. This easily clogs production pipelines and spray nozzles, requiring frequent shutdowns for manual cleaning and severely impacting production progress. On the other hand, groundwater has a high calcium and magnesium ion content. Long-term use will form stubborn scale on the inner walls of production pipelines, hot pressing equipment, and heat exchange devices. This not only reduces equipment heat exchange efficiency and increases maintenance costs but also interferes with the stability of adhesive formulations, causing problems such as weak cardboard box bonding and foam molding defects, seriously hindering product quality improvement.

  III. Customized Water Treatment Solution

  Based on the plant's 100T/D water demand and the pain points of raw water quality, we customized a C+ fully automatic water softening equipment combined with a water treatment process to address water impurities and hardness issues in a tiered manner. The pre-filter multi-media filtration system efficiently intercepts impurities such as silt, suspended solids, and particulate matter in well water through multiple layers of filter media, effectively reducing water turbidity and completing preliminary water purification. It also features a fully automatic backwashing function, requiring no manual operation and providing long-term protection for downstream equipment, preventing resin clogging and failure. The downstream fully automatic softening system utilizes ion exchange technology to precisely adsorb calcium and magnesium ions in the water, addressing the root causes of hard water and equipment scaling. The equipment supports intelligent automatic regeneration, providing a continuous and stable water supply 24 hours a day, fully adaptable to the needs of large-scale continuous production.

  IV. Project Treatment Results

  After the entire system was put into operation, on-site water quality testing results showed that all core indicators, including turbidity and hardness, met the standards, fully complying with the production water standards for the foam and cardboard box industries. The equipment completely solved core problems such as raw water turbidity, pipeline blockage, and equipment scaling. Even during periods of significant water quality fluctuations in the rainy season, the effluent quality remained stable, significantly reducing equipment downtime for maintenance and effectively lowering production and maintenance costs.
