We must have encountered such a problem in the process of using reverse osmosis equipment: the pointer of the pressure gauge of the high-pressure pump keeps jumping repeatedly. If the pressure gauge of the high-pressure pump is not up to standard, if it has been improper at this time, the membrane will break down after a long time, and the effect of the equipment on the treatment of water will be reduced. The most obvious is that the desalination rate drops, and the effluent is obviously not up to standard, so how do we check the equipment when encountering this kind of problem?Let's take a look together!

What the hell is the unstable pressure doing?
Let's talk about the consequences first. Many people think that "it doesn't matter if you fluctuate a little bit", in fact, the impact is greater than you think.When the water pressure is not enough, the raw water cannot push the reverse osmosis membrane, and the salt and impurities pass directly through, and the TDS of the effluent rises sharply. Some food factories and electronics factories use this kind of water, and the products are directly scrapped.It's more troublesome for the pressure to go up and down. The water flow on the surface of the membrane scours unevenly, the concentrated water accumulates locally, and the desalination rate drops down little by little. You may only find that the water quality is wrong for a month, but the membrane is already chronically damaged.There is another point that is easy to ignore: the pipeline and membrane components are under alternating pressure for a long time, and the fatigue aging rate is much faster than normal working conditions.I have seen a customer whose high-pressure pump pressure fluctuated for three months without control, and finally replaced two membranes and a set of seals. The maintenance fee is more expensive than the new membrane.
The three most common reasons:
1. The front filter element is blocked
The sediment in the water is clogged in the filter element, causing the water to pass through the filter element, and the high-pressure pump will not be able to get out of the water for a while, and the pressure gauge will naturally increase. Usually, we judge whether the filter element is blocked. Just look at the pressure gauge. If the pressure exceeds 0.05MPa, the filter element should be replaced.
2. The pipeline leaked air in
This problem mostly occurs on equipment that has been used for more than two or three years.Inlet pipe joints, flange gaskets, valve seals, rubber parts in these places will slowly age and harden, the sealing performance will decrease, and air will seep in through the gaps.When the pump draws water, there are air bubbles sandwiched, and the pressure will undergo a kind of "thump thump" transition, and sometimes the sound of water in the pipeline can be heard.The troubleshooting method is also simple-check for traces of water seepage along the pipeline section by section, tighten the loose joints, replace the aging gaskets directly, and then exhaust and try again.

3. There is a problem with the high pressure pump body
If there is nothing wrong with the first two items, it depends on the pump.Impeller wear, bearing oil shortage, unstable motor speed, and even scale accumulation in the pump chamber cause the impeller to stagnate, which will make the output pressure uneven.This situation is usually accompanied by abnormal noise or vibration, and there is a significant sense of shaking when you touch the pump by hand.At this step, don't disassemble it yourself. The accuracy of the internal parts is required to be high, and it is more troublesome to disassemble it. Contact the manufacturer directly for after-sales processing.Don't reverse the order of investigation. Many people suspect that the pump is broken as soon as they come up. In fact, 80% of the problems are in the first two items.My suggestion is to follow this order: look at the filter element first. Take it out to see the color, the amount and pressure difference, and change it if you need to change it. The cost is the lowest, and it will be done in five minutes.Check the pipeline again. Focus on the joints and valves. Where there is water seepage, it is the leakage point.This step will not take much time, but it can solve many "incurable diseases".Finally, the pump was moved. The first two steps have been ruled out or not, so consider the pump problem again.
How to protect daily?
Don't wait for the filter element to be blocked before changing it. The cycle is set according to the quality of the raw water. It is generally checked once every 1 to 3 months; take two minutes a week to note the outlet pressure and flow rate of the pump. If there is a trend, it will be found early;
Check the pipeline seal once a month, focusing on the joints and flanges; the pump body is cleaned every six months, and the bearings should be refueled. To do this, most of the pressure fluctuation problems will not occur at all.There is a problem with the equipment, and it is much better to find a reliable after-sales service than to figure it out by yourself.Our team has been doing water treatment in Xi'an for many years, from installation and commissioning to late maintenance and emergency repair, and we have done many cases of reverse osmosis, well water filtration, and pure water equipment.If you need it, you can talk directly.
